Hi! My name is Jesse, and I am the CEO of my life. No, really. The Chief Executive Officer. It’s a big role, and it gets bigger every day.
Part of my responsibilities include writing on this blog. This has been neglected for some time now – my last “about me” page was written in 2006 when my life was much, much simpler.
Picture this: I’m 20 years old, with dark brown hair, and slightly short for a male – 5′8″. That doesn’t stop me from looking damn good in a suit though. I’m usually dressed in business clothes, but conform to ‘casual fridays’ where you’ll see me in my comfy jeans. I’m of Irish, Scottish, English and French descent (i.e. a mutt), and have emerald green eyes.
What I do: I am a headhunter, but also go by my less glamorous title of recruiter. I work with an executive recruiting and headhunting firm called PentaCan and I love my job. Each day I’m responsible for 2 solid hours of business development, followed by a hardy lunch (ramen noodles), and then get to work on headhunting / recruiting the top 20% of individuals for my and my associates clients, which range between all different industries and verticals.
Where I’m at: I have been with this firm since February of 2008, and am approaching my first year here. In this time, I have grown my business skills 500% and I expect them to grow another 500% over the next 13 months into my third year. Having known nothing about business, recruiting, headhunting, or account management, my senior bosses have been very patient with me, solely because they know a tenacious, hungry hustler when they see one.
Where I’m going: In some time, I expect to see myself as a partner at this company, and with that comes owning and operating your own office, with your own recruiters, and being responsible for your own Profit & Loss. I have latched onto this goal since day 1, and am counting on my exorbitant amount of persistence discipline and passion to take me there (along with the extreme amount of support I receive from my managers, president and colleagues).
I also intend to own a Bugatti Veyron 16.4. Most of the people that I talk to about this goal see it as foolish. I don’t.
Who’s Important: I live with my family at the moment, who I am very close with – my mother, who has saved my life on countless occasions and never fails to take her time to steer me in the right direction, my sister, who may be 11 but has the imagination and creativity of the most respected web development firms in the world, and my brother, who is what most consider to be an outlander but is someone I trust and respect.
I currently am the proud owner of the title of boyfriend, and have been for 9 months and 3 days (May 02 2008 – February 05, 2009). My amazing, adorable, alien-like, short, skinny, and incredibly intelligent and hilarious girlfriend is none other than “K”, whose blog can be found here. She has been my inseparable best friend since 2002 and has been by my side since the very beginning, whether through the best times, the worst times, or even the times where I haven’t been there at all. I love her very much, and believe that had she not been in my life, I would never be where I am today.
Addictions: Thankfully, I happened to avoid most of the ‘nasty’ addictions, including drugs, cigarettes and alcohol – the most I’m addicted to right now is tea, and black coffee. No sugar, no milk/cream – give it to me black, baby. I’m also addicted to the show Top Gear, and watch it as much as possible, and am a huge, huge fan of Terminator, the movies and The Sarah Connor Chronicles. On that note, I’m also obsessed with Summer Glau (but male or female, who isn’t?).
What you’re still doing here: if you’re still here, I’m quite proud of you. Send me a resume if you’re in the market for a new position (keeping in mind that I usually work within positions of managerial and higher, unless we’re talking about engineering) or recommend a good book for me to read (I’ve been soaking up a-plenty of them these days).
